Three movement suite that can be performed independantly. Alto saxophone feature. Sold as entire suite only. Mov 1 (Ballade): Entire suite is derived from the Ballade theme. Involving constantly shifting colors, this mvt demonstrates the ballad artistry of the soloist. Mov 2 (Latino): Short written solo cadenza. Changes to a latin rhythm vamp for improv. Mambo section next features high brass over roaring ensemble.Soloist again over montuno, to a screaming climax. Mov 3 (Sherzo): Final movement. Up tempo swinging line played by Alto & Guitar, over a loose ensemble. After ample room to stretch out, a return is made to Ballade. Dbls. Difficult.
