Descripción de la:
Johannes Traeg, an acquaintance of Mozart and a publisher, was quick to respond to public demand for arrangements of Mozart's works for domestic music-making in the early 19th century. His arrangements of the Duos for Violin and Viola K. 423-424 for violin and cello, published in 1805, responded to the need for more interesting cello parts in chamber music.
Dietrich Berke, member of the editorial board of the New Mozart Edition and editor of the NMA volume "Duos and Trios for Strings and Winds" describes in his preface to the present edition the path from Mozart's autograph to its arrangement and evaluates the duo within domestic music at the beginning of the 19th century.
