The "Three Romances" by Robert Schumann, composed in 1849 and set for oboe and piano, are undoubtedly among the gems of the oboe literature. Hans-Peter Frank has now presented the result of his considerations to reinterpret the piano part for three strings (violin, viola, violoncello). The oboe world will be extremely happy to establish these three romances in concert life through the new colorfulness that the three strings bring. In the repertoire of the oboe quartet, this is a most welcome addition to the otherwise narrow Romantic literature.
