This short chorus is taken from the Romantic Opera Der Freischutz (The Marksman). The story concerns a young brave huntsman called Max, and the full [production features the well-known Huntsmen's Chorus sung by his band of men throughout Bohemian woods.
Both the composition and the story are prototypical examples Romantic Opera-writing. In this single-sheet version the chorus has been arranged for the upper or female voices by McNaught, and is presented in both vocal score and Tonic Sol-Fa.
