This drinking song Laudo vinum (I praise wine) is based on a text from the Trent Codices, a seven-volume collection compiled in the 15th century. Although most of these texts are religious in nature, this is one of the few secular exceptions. The light-footed, witty verse creates enthusiasm, and this playful mood finds its expression in the music through a pointed rhythm and modern harmonies. The fact that the music also retains a certain connection to the past is another attraction of this choral composition.
