The setting of the 42nd Psalm 'Wie der Hirsch schreit nach frischem Wasser' op. 42 for soloists, choir and large orchestra was composed in 1837.
For the present edition, the renowned Mendelssohn specialist John Michael Cooper has evaluated all other important sources in addition to the first printing of the score supervised by the composer himself.
A detailed Critical Report rounds off the Urtext edition.
The piano reduction is by Mendelssohn himself and is thus also a genuine Urtext.
