Beethoven's first major choral work, the oratorio Christus Am Oelberge (The Mount Of Olives), was written in early 1803. The work is not performed as a whole very often in modern times, but this final chorus called the Chorus Of Angels has been published separately many times and has rivaled even Handel's Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah in popularity over the years.
