SSATTB - Marian Feasts - Mass Ordinary - This splendid piece, which is gradually becoming better-known, was the opening work in Monteverdi's 1610 collection which also included the famous Vespers. Based on melodic material from Gombert's 'In illo tempore' the work ought really to be called 'Missa Beatae Mariae Virginis' - and would perhaps then be better known. Our edition is available down a third (in 'A') or a fourth, or even at the unsingable original high pitch.
