Descripción de la:
The autograph score (originally in E flat major) of this delightful composition refers to the first part as 'Flûte Pastorelle', an instrument about which scholars are unclear. Edgar Hunt asks if it is a recorder at all, but rather a pan flute. In fact, the flute part in the present overture is not technically demanding and makes use exclusively of the conductor's own sound reserve. The small ambitus, which is atypical for Telemann, also justifies Hunt's assumption that the 'Flûte Pastorelle' - literally: the shepherd's flute - is the flute of the shepherd god Pan, i.e. the pan flute. Due to the largely low register of the solo part, a performance on a sopranino recorder in f'' is also suitable. The overture sounds excellent with a pure recorder quartet, but even more beautiful with basso continuo. A complete facsimile of the score is included in the edition.
