Descripción de la:
Extravaganza, composed by Dorothee Eberhardt in 2018, takes its name from the instrumentation for which the piece was originally written: trumpet and accordion. Since it could not be performed in this instrumentation for three years, also due to the Covid Pandemic, Dorothee Eberhardt decided to arrange Extravaganza for other instrumentations: for flute and accordion, flute and piano, and violin and piano. In the version for flute and piano, Extravaganza has four movements, quite different in expression. Movements one and four are strongly rhythmically contoured, with the fourth movement remotely reminiscent of a tango. The second movement is quiet and static throughout. It is introduced and ended by the sounds of a vibraphone. The third movement combines quite contrasting materials: excited motives played in rhythmic unison by flute and piano are framed and interrupted by contemplative piano solos and wide-ranging motivic arcs in flute and piano. In the version for flute and accordion, Extravaganza is in three movements. i.e., the third movement of the version for flute and piano is missing. The accordion replaces the sounds of the vibra-tones with air sounds. The flute part is the same for both versions.
