Descripción de la:
Bruce A. Evans schreibt über WALL STREET RAG:
Scott Joplin is the best known ragtime composer. Although he did not invent the ragtime style
(it developed from African-American dance music), he wrote more ragtime pieces than anyone
else, and the quality of his work is unequalled in the ragtime genre.
'Wall Street Rag' was written in 1909, shortly after Scott Joplin moved to New York City. He
died there in 1917.
In his publication of 'Wall Street Rag', he included the following program notes:
1st strain (m. 5) 'Panic in Wall Street, Brokers feeling melancholy'
2nd strain (m. 22) 'Good times coming'
3rd strain (m. 39) 'Good times have come'
4th strain (m. 56) 'Listening to the strains of genuine negro ragtime, brokers forget their cares'
