I wrote this melodic work for my daughter Paulien. It sounds cheerful, expressive and gentle - a reflection of her character. The composition begins lyrically and dreamily. A gentle and soulful opening fragment leads to a grand, uplifting passage. After that, the music undergoes a change of mood in the B section: the melody and accompaniment here sound light, joyful and dance-like. A development follows, leading to a radiant climax in which the opening theme and various elements from the work return, finally ending in the dreamy atmosphere of the opening. - Bert Appermont
