The Balkans are at the centre of world affairs. As early as 1914, events in that area ignited the First World War. Today, at the end of the 20th century, it is clear that the conflict, which dates back to the 16th century, is far from over. The present piece does not pursue any political theme in its statement. In this time of war, it would like to address the folk music of the Balkans, which is considered one of the richest in the world. In the arrangement, a focal point shape is followed. At the centre is a simple Albanian melody (bridal song), which is the only element that appears only once. It is flanked by dances from Macedonia and Bulgaria, which also appear in reversals (mirror forms), as well as a Bulgarian lullaby, which also appears mirrored. Like a chorus, a short Bosnian motif holds the pieces together.
