Amenis a solemn work by Pavel Stanek. The devotional, poignant main theme is introduced by the solo baritone (alternatively by bassoon or tenor saxophone). Oboe, flute and alto saxophone and trumpets bring out the tender second theme. The piece now becomes more and more sublime and increases from phrase to phrase, up to the solemn final chord, after which probably not only the musicians but also the listeners have to take a deep breath. Not only because of the title, this piece is suitable for a quiet, atmospheric concert conclusion. The careful orchestration creates a very balanced and full sound.
