Andreas van Zoelen (* 1978) is a saxophonist of Dutch/Moravian descent. He studied conducting and saxophone at the Brabants Conservatorium in the Netherlands, with Jean Pennings. He started his composing career as an autodidact and , after that he enjoyed lessons with Alexandre Hrisanide and Jan van Dijk. The compositions of Van Zoelen, which mostly are commissioned, have been played by the Ricciotti Ensemble Amsterdam, the Orion Trio, the Euregio Jeugd Orkest, Regionaal Concert Orkest Wilskracht, Shell Harmonie all in the Netherlands, the Beethoven Orchester (Bonn, Germany) and many others. His works have been performed in the U.S.A., Thailand, Portugal, Suriname, Spain and of course in the Netherlands. Van Zoelen is professor of classical saxophone at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Andreas van Zoelen himself orchestrated his Concerto for Soprano Saxophone and Saxophone Ensemble for Soprano Saxophone and a modern Symphonic Band.
