Fata Morgana is the name of an attraction in the amusement park De Efteling at Kaatsheuvel (The Netherlands). It is one of the first modern dark rides in the Benelux countries. The visitors make a journey in a boat through an imaginary but recognizable oriental world. In writing the music for Fata Morgana Ruud Bos made exclusively use of original drawings and scale models of the attraction. He wrote a five part piece: the Harem, the Harbour, the Market Place, the Jungle and the Torture Room.
