Letter from home is the title track from the album recorded by Pat Metheny Group in 1989.
The tune is quite simple, yet strikingly beautiful in its simplicity. The mood of the music is sometimes melancholic and other times more optimistic. Although Pat Metheny's version is without vocals, it's still very emotional and it encourages the listener to form his or her opinion on what the music is about. This music made a strong impression on me when I first heard it 20 years ago, and it still does, says the arranger, Svein Henrik Giske.
