Frédéric Devreese is one of the most renowned composers in Belgium's rich musical tapestry. As a tribute, Beriato Music is making a CD box containing his most important orchestral pieces that have been adapted for wind bands. 'Passage' is one of his most notable pieces from this collection. The unstoppable bass melody, the effervescent phrasing and the continuous rhythms make this powerful piece a real experience!Here the french word passage refers to passage-work, defined by the dictionary Le Grand Larousse as a rapid sequence of notes, improvised or written, within a musical phrase, deigned to embellish the melody or stimulate the performer'svirtuosity. Passage proposes a theme followed by variations, the final being the last variation. Rhythm, virtuosity and mixtures of tone colours play an important part and ostinato tempi are used throughout.
