Bickleigh Idyll [and also the Violin Concerto] was inspired by the River Exe between Up Exe and Bickleigh Bridge. It is almost impossible for me to sit by a river, pond or lake without music flowing into my mind and imagination. Thus, I hope a profound love of nature is conveyed by these works.(John Jeffreys)
