This little overture was written to celebrate the 80th birthday of the Argyle String Orchestra of Bath, and was first performed by them, conducted by Tim Robb, on 27th March 2003. It is 80 bars long - one for each year of the orchestra's existence - and lasts for two minutes. Perhaps it will be of some use to other orchestras looking for a lightweight overture to start a concert, and at least it has the merit of brevity!
