Wagenseil (1715-1777), court composer and piano instructor of the imperial family in Vienna was one of the most popular musicians in his time. Set between Baroque music and Viennese classic, he is now considered to have paved the way for the classic symphony. It is said that Mozart very much admired Wagenseil who was 41 years his senior.
