Descripción de la:
The work is based on the saga of the tragic fate of the ancient Roman hero Coriolan. Beethoven referred to the tragedy of the same name by the Austrian poet Heinrich Joseph von Collin, which was very popular in Vienna at the time, but did not write down the overture until 1807, at a time when the play had long since been removed from the repertoire. Obviously, the composer was no longer concerned that his music should be heard in connection with a theatrical performance - and he thus wrote one of the earliest and still most popular concert overtures in music history. For the study edition, the text of the Beethoven Complete Edition has been critically revised and a new preface has been added.
