One of the most frequently performed solo concertos, whose composition coincides with the work on the opera Le nozze di Figaro.The sources for K. 488 are quite clear. The score autograph has survived, and the first printed editions appeared only after Mozart's death. The editorial quality of the new edition is guaranteed not only by Schiff's sophisticated fingerings and his stylistically confident cadenzas, but also by the Mozart specialist Ernst-Günter Heinemann, whom Henle-Verlag has entrusted with this Urtext edition. Each work is edited by an expert according to uniformly established guidelines. Mozart's handwritten scores are primarily used as the most important sources. In some cases these were not yet accessible at the time of earlier editions. Today it is also known that, in addition to the autographs, early copies of parts and prints also contain important information about the musical text.
