Descripción de la:
Like Joseph Haydn's Concerto in E-flat Major Hob VIIe:1 (1796), Hummel's Trumpet Concerto in E Major was composed in 1803 for the Viennese soloist Anton Weidinger, who had at his disposal on his keyed trumpet the then unique ability to play chromatic notes over the entire scale. The work contains unmistakable allusions to Mozart and even includes a verbatim quotation from a Cherubini opera in the final movement. Today, Hummel's concerto, together with Haydn's composition, is considered to be the classical trumpet concerto par excellence. This was certainly helped by the fact that a version transposed to E-flat major has been available since 1957, which accommodates the B-flat trumpet that is widely used today. The Urtext edition takes over this practical performance aspect: the piano reduction as well as the study score contain both versions; score and orchestral parts are available in two different editions.
