Nocturne for orchestra was created in 2011, a few months after the death of Henryk Mikolaj Górecki and is dedicated to him. It is a kind of musical contemplation of a nocturnal landscape. The composer conjures up the sense of a vast space inundated with an evanescent light and an aura of silence and serenity. In his Nocturne, the composer makes explicit reference to his father's works, using similar harmonic solutions and short, recurrent motifs emerging from those splashes of colour. Nevertheless, these musical allusions are interwoven in Mikolaj Górecki's own, individual style, which, as he himself says, is the building of originality from tradition.
