Part of Alfred's Recital Suite series, Caribbean Cruise explores four islands in the Caribbean. Each of the four movements depicts a landmark on the island. In 'St. Thomas Skyride,' students will create a lyrical, smooth ride to Paradise Point in the United States Virgin Islands. The syncopated left-hand rhythm of 'Seven Mile Beach' provides a fitting background for visiting the tourist attractions on Grand Cayman Island. The third movement, 'Nassau Straw Market,' recreates the energy of this open-air market in The Bahamas. The suite is completed with 'Old San Juan,' a musical version of the blue cobblestone streets and flat-roof brick and stone buildings of this area in Puerto Rico.
