This piece was written in homage to the great pianist Artur Rubenstein towards the end of his life when he lent his name to the 'Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition'. Rubenstein, overcome by gratitute, wrote to Carlos CHavez in Spanish to thank him. In keeping with its name, Estudio A Rubinstein is a very difficult piece for the advanced pianist. The music is busy but graceful nonetheless.
