Descripción de la:
Commissioned by Professor XI Weilong (Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Vice President; China Band Society, President; Guangdong Band Association)
I worked with him adjudicating the Korean Wind band competition.
World premiere in December 2019 by the Director's Band from Guangdong Band Association conducted by Di Zhu.
In China, there is a vast karst landform called Zhangye Danxia landform, which has beautiful striped strata formed by red sedimentary rocks. The sight of the bare geological strata changing into seven different colors in the sunlight is so spectacular that it is often called the Grand Canyon of the East. The theme of the work is an adventure story in which we travel through the shapes, power, and colors of the earth from various angles as if we were birds. Describe the spectacular landscape with free interpretation!
This was revised for publication to be performed by as few as 20 players. Range, rhythm, and other difficulties are designed to be quickly accomplished so as to focus on creating a great musical image beyond serving only technical aspects.
