Life without a pet is unthinkable for many people. In German-speaking countries, cats are clearly in the lead. In the approximately 3.5 million households in Austria, for example, 1.6 million cats are kept. This means that cats live in almost every third household. For 65 percent of Austrians, the cuddly cat counts as a full-fledged family member and as a perfect leisure and play companion. Austrian composer Thomas Asanger also associates fond childhood memories with them. In 2017, his Nora passed away at the stately age of 20.
The eponymous composition describes the multi-layered character traits of a four-legged friend sometimes quite calm and thoughtful and at another moment playful and impetuous. With this pleasing work, the composer speaks from the soul of all those who enrich their lives and that of their family around the charismatic four-legged friends and thus also becomes an invaluable asset.
