Descripción de la:
The Triumphlied for baritone, chorus and orchestra, almost forgotten today, was composed in response to the victory of the German army in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 and suffers somewhat from the prejudice of being a patriotic occasional work without deeper content. The new edition presented as part of the Brahms Complete Edition, with its exemplary treatment of the history of composition and reception, lays the reliable foundations for a historical and artistic reassessment of the controversial composition.
After the orchestral score (HN 6030) was already published in 2020 (this also contains the detailed introduction to the history of the work), this volume is followed by the accompanying piano arrangements, which are by Brahms himself. They make it possible to approach the work from the piano itself and thus to gain an immediate impression of the compositional content of the Triumphlied.
